There are tons of book clubs, but I could not find a book club around Brooklyn that explored queer literature. Womp. As a lesbian, I would like to read books with characters and stories that I can empathize with, understand or at the least simply recognize. As a published writer of non-fiction (essays, op-eds, books), I know the importance of networking with other writers to ensure we carve out time to write, as well as to critique each others' work. The mission of this group is to do both, whether we write about gay issues or not. The goal is therefore to build a supportive and accepting environment to share our work, and provide constructive criticism. You need not be a published writer...just LOVE TO WRITE!
